Drop Stitch Wrap2

Design story

This wrap was featured in the very first issue of knitonthenet nearly three years ago! Over these three years we believe there has been obvious improvement and development and it now seems the right time to start re-visiting some of those early patterns. This drop stitch wrap is a great pattern not just for the specified yarn but for any chunky handspun.

Dropstitchwrap3

This very simple pattern is a great introduction to knitting for beginners - in fact, I often used it when teaching knitting at our local fashion college. The students were always delighted at how quickly they could create something. The speed at which it can be knitted makes it a great gift-giving project.

3 x 100 gm skeins of chosen shade

Rep to end of row.
Next row: Knit through front loop of each st, dropping wrapped yarn between sts (18 sts).
Give work a little pull to stretch dropped st.

These 3 rows form pattern. Repeat until wrap measures approx 240 cm (95 inches) ending with a knit row.
