Pattern Notes

Body and Sleeves are worked in the round to underarm, joined then worked in the round to the neck. All pieces must end on same round of stripe pattern prior to joining.

Stipe pattern

Knit 8 rounds in yarn A using 3.5mm (US #4) needles
Knit 6 rounds in yarn B using 4.5mm (US #7) needles

Ridge knit

Round 1: Knit
Round 2: Purl
These 2 rounds make a ridge

 

Faerytale2

Body

Using smaller circular needles and yarn A, cast on 204 (216, 224) sts. Join taking care not to twist sts on needle. Place marker at beg of rnd and slip marker every rnd. Knit 1 rnd.

Work lace border: * k2tog, yon, k2 *. Rep from * to * to end of rnd.

Work 2 rnds k before setting stripe pattern, remembering to change yarns. Note that if you do not want to add a ribbon through lace border at sleeves and body, work 4 rnds in ridge knit. Place a second side marker after 102 (108, 112) sts for front. Then set stripe patt and work straight until body measures 69 (71, 74)cm ( 27.25 , 28, 29). Cast off 6 sts for armholes before and after each marker. 180 (192, 200) sts. Put work aside and work sleeves.

Sleeves

(make 2)
Using double pointed needles and cast on 80 (82) 84 sts using yarn A. Join taking care not to twist sts on needle. Place marker at beg of rnd and slip marker every rnd.

Knit 1 rnd and then work either lace border or ridge knit as on body. Set stripe patt and work until sleeve measures 51 (52, 53) cm (20 , 20.5, 21 inches).

Shape armhole

Cast off 6 sts on each side of marker. 68 (70, 72) sts. Place sts on holder and put aside. NB take care to end patt on same rnd as on body.

Yoke

Using yarn and needle from body patt across left sleeve sts maintaining stripe pattern, pm, k across front sts, pm, k across right sleeve sts, pm, k across back, sl m (316, 332, 344 sts). Each marker denotes raglan line shaping.

Dec every alt rnd at each marker as follows:
work to 3 sts before next marker, k2tog, k2 (marker is between these 2 sts), k2togtbl. 8 sts dec in rnd. Cont dec every alt rnd a total of 20 (21, 22) times (155, 164, 168) sts. Using yarn A work 6 rnds ridge knit. Work lace border as on body. Work 2 rnds ridge knit before casting off loosely.

Finishing

Sew underarms and sew in all ends. Pull a silk ribbon through lace border at the bottom of sleeves and body and through collar.
