Cast off 2sts at beg of next 6 rows (53, 56, 62, 68, 73, 77, 80, 86, 89, 92 sts)

Continuing in pattern work until garment measures 3 (3, 3, 3, 4, 4, 4.5, 5, 6) inches (8, 8, 8, 8, 10, 10, 10, 11.25, 13, 15 cm) from start of armhole shaping, ending with row 2.

Place centre 8 (10, 12, 13, 13, 14, 16, 17, 18) sts on holder, cast off 3 sts at beg of row and pattern to end.
Continue to match first side, reversing all shapings.

At this point the neck looks rather wide. Do not worry about this. The neckband draws the neck back into shape.
