Fudge

Materials

2 x 50gm balls Jo Sharp Soho Summer 100% Cotton DK , Shade 225 (Umber)
100m (109 yds) = 50g ball
1x 4mm Crochet hook
1x 3.5mm Crochet Hook

Standard Tension for this yarn is 22.5 sts & 30 rows measured over 10cm of Stocking stitch using 4mm (US #6) needles.

Measurements

This belt is worked from side to side, so can be any length needed. The belt shown in the photo measures 30 inches.

Abbreviations

(US crochet terms are shown in brackets, in red)

ss - slip stitch
ch - chain
tr (dc) - treble (double crochet)
htr (hdc) - half treble (half double crochet)
dc (sc) - double crochet (single crochet)

 

Fudge

Pattern

Ch 22 using 4mm Crochet hook
Foundation row: Wk 1 tr (dc) into 4 th ch from hook, wk 1 tr (dc) into each ch to end, 3 ch, turn.
Row 1: Wk 1 tr (dc) into 2 tr (dc) from hook, wk 1 tr (dc) into nex 5 tr (dc) (7 tr (dc) made). Ch 2, miss 2 tr (dc), 1 tr (dc) into each tr (dc) to end. Ch 3, turn.
Row 2: Wk 1 tr (dc) into 2 nd tr (dc) from hook, wk 1 tr (dc) into next 8 tr (dc) (10 tr (dc) made), ch 2, miss 2 tr (dc), 1 tr (dc) into each tr (dc) to end. Ch 3, turn.

Repeat these 2 rows to length required finishing with a complete row of tr (dc) as in foundation row. Do not break off yarn.

Change to 3.5mm hook and work a row of htr (hdc) evenly around the belt. Fasten off.

Front fastenings

Using yarn doubled and 3.5mm hook, join yarn to top edge of belt. Work 1 dc (sc) *3 ch miss 2 ch, wk 1 dc (sc) rep from * to end. This forms the chain loops - if there ar not enough sts at the end of the row to make a loop work a dc (sc) into remaining sts.
Repeat for other side.

Tie

Using yarn doubled and 3.5mm hook, make a ch of 170 sts. Fasten off.

Finishing

Darn in all ends. Thread tie through loops as shown.
