Pattern

Body

Using larger needles cast on 288 (308, 328, 348) sts, join and knit in rib in round , * p4 k6, Rep from * to * 14 (15, 16, 17) times to last 4 sts, p4. 144 (154) 164 (174) sts for front. Place marker, repeat for back on next 144 (154, 164, 174) sts.

Work straight for 5cm (2 inches).

*Dec row 1: Maintaining rib pattern P2tog on every second purl, rep. to end.
Then work straight for 3 cm (1.25 inches).

Dec row 2: Maintaining rib pattern P2tog on every other purl rep., ie. those repeats not decreased previously*.
Rep from * to * to set pattern: p2, k6. 114 (122, 130, 138) sts each for front and back.

Set cable pattern thus:
Rnd 1: *p2 , place 3 sts on CN in front of work, k3 sts, k3 sts from CN* Rep from * to * on front to last 2 sts, p2. Rep for back.
Rnds 2-8: work sts as they appear: k on k and p on p.
Rep these 9 rounds 3 more times, then round 1once more.

Place marker in centre front and back. Place markers at 4th purl rep each side of centre. (These markers indicate increase positions, NOT the centre marker). Then continue working in rib without cable. When rib measures 3 cm (1.25 inches) from this point work inc row as follows:
M1 st in every 4th purl rep at markers on front and back.
Rep inc row every 2cm(1 inch) 2 more times: (There will be 5 purl sts in 4th purl rep). When work measures 38 (39, 40, 41) cm (15, 15.25, 15.75, 16.25 inches) use markers and divide work into front and back. Work each side seperately. 120 (128, 136, 144) sts.

Back

Armhole shaping

Work in rows in rib and at the same time cast off 4sts at the beginning of next two rows.
Then cast off 2 sts at beginning of foll 2 rows.

Continue by dec 1st at each end of every alt row 4 times, then every 4th row 3 times. Work straight until armhole measures 20 (21, 22, 23 cm) ( 8, 8.25, 8.75, 9 inches). Cast off centre 44 (46, 48, 50) sts for neck, work to end. Working each side separately, shape shoulder and neck as follows:

On next and every foll alt row dec 1 st at neck edge, AND AT SAME TIME, Cast off from outer shoulder edge every alt row 3 times as follows:
1st size: 7, 8, 8
2nd size: 8, 9, 9
3rd size: 9, 10, 10
4th size: 10, 11, 11

Front

Work in rows in rib and cast off for armholes as on back. When armhole measures 13, 13, 13, 14 cm (5, 5, 5 5.5 inches) cast off centre 26 (28, 30, 32) sts for neck.
Work each side separately cast off each side of neck every alt row as folls: 3 sts once, 2 sts twice, then dec 1 st 4 times. Work straight until armhole measures the same as back to beg of shoulder and shape shoulders as on back.

Blue Mirasol

Sleeves (make 2)

Knitted in the round.
Using larger needles cast on 76 (76, 85, 85) sts, join and work in rib thus: p4 * k5 , p4 *. Place marker for end of round. Rep from * to *.
Work straight for 4 cm (1.5).
Dec 1 st in each purl rep to 67 (67, 75, 75) sts. Work straight until sleeve measures 8cm (3 inches) then dec 1 st in each purl rep to 58 (58, 65, 65)sts. Work in rib: p2, k5 until work measures 12 cm ( 4.75 inches).

Then inc 1 st in every second knit rep. Cont to work straight until work measures 16 cm (6.25 inches) and inc 1 st in rem k repeat to set pattern: p2, k6. (66, 66, 74, 74 sts). Then inc 1 st at both ends of every 4th rnd until 96 (100, 104, 108) sts.
Work straight in rib until work measures 32 (33, 34, 35) cm (12.5, 13, 13.5 13.75 inches. Then set cable pattern:
Rnd 1: *p2 , place 3 sts on CN in front of work, k3 sts, k3 sts from CN * Rep from * to * to last 2 sts, p2.
Rnds 2-8: work sts as they appear: k on k and p on p.
Rep pattern until work measures 48 (48, 50, 51) cm (19,19, 19.75, 20 inches) or desired length, then divide work in two at marker. Work in rows and cast off 4 sts at beg of next 2 rows, the 2sts at beg of next 2 rows. Dec 1 st at each end of every alt row 4 times, then every 4th row 3 times. Work straight for 4 (6, 8, 8) rows and then cast off 4 sts at the beg off next 2 (2, 4, 4) rows. Cast off all rem sts.

Finishing

Block lightly with steam on wrong side.
Sew shoulder seams. Set in sleeves.

Collar: Using smaller needle pick up and knit, 74 (76, 78, 80) sts from front neck and 44 (46, 48, 50) sts from back neck. Join and work 1 rnd ktbl then 1 rnd, k.
Next rnd: make picot edge: *yon, k2tog tbl* Rep * to *. Work 4 rnds k and cast off. Fold edge to WS and sew neatly in place.
