Pattern notes

When knitting this top on a circular needle you will have no seams at all. If you prefer to knit on a pair of straight needles knit in one piece with an extra stitch at each end of work for seaming. Sew together with mattress stitch.

Please Note: that garment will measure about 7 - 9 cm (3 - 3.5 inches) shorter when worn, as garment will stretch

Pattern

Cast on 120 (128, 136, 144, 152, 160) sts, with 4mm (US #6) needles. Join into the round ensuring cast on is not twisted. Place a marker between first and last sts of the round.

Next and every foll round: *K4, P4, rep from * to end of round.
Work in pattern until garment measures 46 (46, 48, 48, 50, 50) cm (18, 18, 19, 19, 20, 20 inches).

Next round: Cast off 16sts, work 44 (48, 52, 56, 60, 64) sts in patt., cast off 16 sts.,
patt rem 44 (48, 52, 56, 60, 64) sts.
Next round: *Cast on 40sts over 16 cast off sts on previous round, patt 44 (48, 52, 56, 60, 64) sts., rep from * to end of round.
Continue without further shaping until work measures 12 (12, 14, 14, 16, 16) cm )5, 5, 6, 6, 7, 7 inches) from cast off round.

Cast off very loosely so that edge stays elastic.
