By Henrietta Dups

This pattern is Henrietta's interpretation of the 'must have' accessory for Spring 2008 - the Chanel Bow Belt seen at the Chanel spring/summer 2008 catwalk show, combined with the gorgeous colour combination of jacaranda and citrine seen at Valentino's spring/summer 2008 runway show.

Pattern

Belt
Cast on 9sts in double MC yarn on 4mm (US #6) needles and work in moss stitch until belt measures your waist measurement and cast off.
NOTE
If you are going to wear the belt over a fine garment knit belt to your exact measurements. If you are going to wear it over a bulky knit - take your waist measurement when wearing the bulky knit wear, to ensure the belt will fit.
Bow
Cast on 15 sts in double CC yarn on 3mm (US #3) needles and work moss stitch for 57 rows then cast off firmly.
Bow Knot
Cast on 5 sts in double MC yarn on 3mm (US #3) needles and work in moss stitch for 31 rows then cast off firmly.
Finishing
Darn in all ends. Fold Bow piece in half length ways, then fold down each side parallel with Centre fold. Wrap Bow Knot piece around the centre of the folded Bow and stitch Bow Knot ends together at back of Bow.
Using needle and thread (in similar colour to MC yarn) sew 1 button in each corner 1 row in from side edge and Centre front edge on WS of belt. Then using tapestry needle and Mc yarn sew two loops on Centre front edge of other end of belt - ensuring that they line up directly with buttons and that loops are only just big enough to fit over buttons - resulting in both Centre front ends of belt lying flush with each other when fastened. Loops should be reinforced with buttonhole stitches sewn all around each loop.
Alternatively work buttonhole loops using crochet hook, single MC yarn and chain stitch to required length.
Finally attach the bow to the belt by sewing back edges of the Bow Knot to the RS of the belt 7 rows in from Centre Front.
Voila the Bow Belt is complete.
