Sirdar Firefly 100% polyamide 25gm/82 yards (75metres) approx.
6(6,7,8,9) x 25gm balls - Shade 0891 - for tunic
2 x 25gm balls - Shade 0891 - for scarf

1 Pair 5.5mm (US #9) needles
1 Pair 6.5mm (US #10.5) needles

Tension

25sts x 34 rows to 4 inches (10cm) using stocking stitch
and 4mm (US #6) needles

Pattern notes

The pattern used for this garment produces a very stretchy fabric and is designed to be worn very loosely. If you prefer a closer fitting tunic that will stretch but 'cling to the contours' go for 2 sizes smaller than stated on the pattern.

Stitch Pattern

Row 1: K1, *yfwd, K2tog, rep from * to end, K1.
Row 2: Purl
Row 3: Knit
Row 4: Purl
Row 5: K2, *yfwd, K2tog rep from * to end.
Row 6: Purl
Row 7: Knit
Row 8: Purl

Back

Tunic Pattern

(Knit front and back alike)

Using 6.5mm (US #10.5) needles cast on 68(74, 80, 86, 92) sts.
Row 1: *K1, P1, rep from * to end.
Repeat this row once more.

Commencing with row 1 of stitch pattern work without shaping until work measure 20 (20, 22, 24, 26) inches, 51 (51, 56, 61, 66 cm).
Next row: *K1, P1, rep from * to end.
Repeat this row 4 more times.
Cast off loosely.

Making up

Sew front and back together at shoulders for 2 (2, 3, 3, 4) inches 5(5, 7.5, 7.5 10 cm) from armhole edge
or adjust to personal taste.

Armholes

Measure 7 (7, 8, 8, 9) inches (18, 18, 20, 20, 23 cm) down from shoulder seam and place pin at front and back.
With RS facing and using 5.5mm (US #9) needles, pick up 66 (66, 72, 72, 78) sts.
Next row: *K1, P1, rep from * to end.
Cast off loosely.
Sew up side seams. Darn in all loose ends using sewing thread.

 

Scarf Pattern

Using 6.5mm (US #10.5) needles cast on 18sts.
Commencing with row 1 of stitch pattern work until scarf measures 78 inches (198cm)
Cast off loosely. Darn in any ends with sewing thread.
