1 pair size 4mm needles (US #6) Approx 150gm of DK weight handspun 100% wool

Abbreviations

Orange Text - Indicates an amendment to the pattern has been made since first published.

RT - knit the next 2 sts together, but do not slip them off the left hand needle. Knit the first of the stitches again and now slip both stitches off the needle.

LT - knit the second st on the left hand needle through the back of the loop then knit the first and second st together through the back of the loop and slip both stitches off the needles.

C2F - (Cable 2 Front) Place next stitch on cable needle and hold at front of work. Knit next stitch then knit stitch from cable needle.

Pattern

Cast on 102 stitches using 4mm needles.
Knit 4 rows.

Row 5: *K2tog, repeat from * to end.
Row 6: Knit to end.
Row 7: *K1, K2tog, repeat from * to end.
Row 8: Knit to end.
Row 9: *K2, P2, repeat from * to end.
Row 10: * P2, K2 repeat from * to end.
Row 11: *C2F, P2 repeat from * to end.
Row 12: *P2, K2 repeat from * to end.

Repeat the last 4 rows 10 times.

Continue in Pattern as follows:

Row1: (RS): P2 *RT, P2 rep from * to end.
Row 2: K2 * P2, K2 rep from * to end.
Row 3: P1 * K2tog, (yrn) twice, SL1, K1, psso, rep from * to end.
Row 4: P2 * (K1, P1) into yrn twice of previous row, P2, rep from * to end.
Row 5: K2, *P2, LT, rep from * to end.
Row 6: P2 * K2, P2 rep from * to end.
Row 7: P1, yon * sl1, K1, psso, k2tog (yrn) twice, rep from * to last 5 sts., sl1, K1 psso, K2tog, yrn, P1.
Row 8: K2 *P2 (K1, P1)into yrn twice of previous row, rep from * to last 4 sts, P2, K2.
These 8 rows form pattern.

Rep these rows for 32 inches, ending with RS facing.

Continue in pattern thus:
Row 1: * K2, P2, rep from * to end.
Row 2: *P2, K2, rep from * to end.
Row 3: *C2F, P2, rep from * to end.
Row 4: *P2, K2, rep from * to end.
Rep last 4 rows 10 times.

Next row: *K1, make 1, rep from * to end.
Next row: Knit to end.
Next row: Knit into front and back of every st (102 sts).
Knit 4 rows.
