Italian Lace Curtain

Materials

2 x 25gm balls Rowan Kid Silk Haze shade 634(cream)
approx 210m = 25gm.
(70% super kid mohair, 30% silk)

1 pair 5mm (US #6) needles
1 pair 4.5mm (US #7) needles
approx 100 beads
sewing needle

Tension

(after pressing) 18sts x 26rows over pattern using 5mm (US #6) needles

Italian Lace Pattern

(this pattern is a 6 st repeat +2 sts)

Row 1(RS): k1, *k4, k2tog, yfwd, rep from * to last st, k1.
Row 2: p1, *yrn, p1, p2tog, p3, rep from * to last st, p1.
Row 3: k1, *k2, k2tog, k2, yfwd, rep from * to last st, k1.
Row 4: p1, *yrn, p3, p2tog, p1, rep from * to last st, p1.
Row 5: k1, *k2tog, k4, yfwd, rep from * to last st, k1.
Row 6: p1, *p4, yrn, p2tog, rep from * to last st, p1.
Row 7: k1, *k1, yfwd, k3, k2tog, rep from * to last st, k1.
Row 8: p1, *p2tog, p2, yrn, p2, rep from * to last st, p1.
Row 9: k1, *k3, yfwd, k1, k2tog, rep from * to last st, k1.
Row 10: p1, *p2tog, yrn, p4, rep from * to last st, p1.

These 10 rows form pattern repeat.

Pattern

Cast on 98sts using preferred method provisional cast on or waste yarn, and 5mm (US #6) needles.

Using main yarn, and commencing with row 1 of pattern, continue in pattern until all 10 rows of pattern have been completed. Repeat pattern until work is of required length ending with a WS row.

Change to 4.5mm (US #7) needles.
Knit 3 rows.
Next row: Purl.
Next row: (k3, yfwd, k2tog) rep to last 3 sts, k3.
Next row: Purl.
Knit 2 rows.
Cast off.

Returning to cast on edge use 4.5mm (US #7) needles, remove cast on row and place 98sts onto needle. Thread approx 98 beads onto yarn before rejoining to work.

Join in yarn and knit one row, bringing a bead through to sit on top of needle with each stitch worked.

Leaving a long tail break yarn. Thread tail through a sewing needle and take back through each stitch. Firmly secure yarn at end of row.

Making up

Darn in all ends.
