Fold along fold line created by knit stitch along centre of brim. Press again. Pin crown to fold line along brim. Stitch into place.
Fold each flap in half to create a triangle. Pin and press again. Using 3mm crochet hook, work round the triangle using double crochet, through all thicknesses of unjoined edges to hold together. At corners work 1 chain before and after double crochet stitch into the corner.
Position flaps half way between back seam and centre front of hat, one on each side and sew into place along bottom edge of hat.
Using the same yarn overcast the two layers of the brim together.
