Materials

3 x 25g balls of Mondial Pulcino baby (100% pure new wool, 25g/140 metres approx)
1.5 metres/yards of 0.75 inches (1.5cm) wide ribbon

Needles

1 pair 3mm (US #3) needles

Tension

30 sts x 40 rows to 10cm using 3mm (US #3) needles over stocking stitch

Measurements

To fit chest: 20ins 22ins

Pattern

Worked in one piece starting at back cast on edge.

Cast on 86(92)sts using 3mm (US #3) needles.
Row 1: (k1, p1), rep to end.
Row 2: (p1, k1), rep to end.

Repeat these 2 rows once more each.
Change to st st and continue till work measures 6.75 (8.25)ins (17, 21cm).
Cast on 13 (15) sts at beg of next 2 rows (112, 122 sts).
Next row: (k1, p1) twice, knit to last 4 sts (p1, k1) twice.
Next row: (p1, k1) twice, purl to last 4 sts (k1, p1) twice.
Continue with these 2 rows until work measures 10.25 (11.75)ins (26, 30cm), ending with a RS row.

Next row: (p1, k1) twice, p34(39), (k1, p1) 18 times, p34(39), (k1, p1) twice.
Next row: (k1, p1) twice, k34(39), (p1, k1) 18 times, k34(39), (p1, k1) twice.

Rep these 2 rows once more.

Leave sts for left shoulder on spare needle and continue on right shoulder only, in stocking stitch, keeping moss st border on both edges.
Next and every foll rs (knit) row: Make 1 st by working into the loop between the 1st and 2nd stitch worked after moss st border sts.
When work measures 14.25 (15.75) ins (36,40cm), and with rs facing, cast off 13 (15) sts at beg of next row. (After this omit border on this edge).
Continue working increases as set until 64 (69) sts. Cont without further shaping until work measures 20.5 (22)ins (52, 56cm), ending with a WS row.

Next row: (k1, p1), rep to end.
Next row: (p1, k1), rep to end.
Repeat these two rows once more.
Cast off.
Rejoin yarn to left shoulder and work to match right front, reversing shapings.

Making up

Darn in all ends. Block work. Pin ribbons in position on both front edges. Place pin at right side seam where ribbon needs to pass through. Join side and sleeve seams leaving a 0.75inch (1.5cm) gap at right side seam. Cut approx 3inch (7cm) of ribbon and fold into a loop. Join ends together. Mark centre on back and position loop level with ribbon ties. Sew into place as shown.

Attach ribbon as shown in photograph. Press.
